Job summary

The State of Maine Judicial Branch in Lewiston is seeking an SC/VB Assistant Clerk to support the Service Center and Violations Bureau. This role requires strong customer service, clerical accuracy, and effective communication with the public, judges, and agencies.

Applicants will handle calls, data entry, and records in MEJIS and Enterprise Justice, with initial training and potential for partial remote work after orientation. Salary starts at $21.41–$22.50 per hour plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or GED.
• Experience providing customer service and/or clerical work.
• Experience responding to customer inquiries using software and databases.

Responsibilities

• Answer high-volume incoming calls for trial courts and Violations Bureau.
• Use court management systems and knowledge bases to respond to inquiries.
• Prepare juror correspondence and manage court documents and records.
• Provide information to callers and coordinate with agencies as needed.
• Support courtroom operations, including remote proceedings and tech setup.
