Job summary

Cathay Bank is seeking an SBA Underwriting Officer to manage portfolio risk and ensure compliant servicing of SBA government-guaranteed loans in the U.S. market. You will collaborate with Sales, Closing, Credit Administration and external partners to maintain borrower relationships and timely actions.

The role requires strong credit analysis, SBA knowledge, and execution of underwriting standards to support approvals and post-closing processes in a fast-paced banking environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or related field preferred.
• 1–2 years of commercial/SBA portfolio management, credit underwriting, or related experience.
• Working knowledge of SBA 7(a) and 504 lending and servicing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite SBA loans (7(a), Express, 504) per SBA SOP and guidelines.
• Perform credit analysis: cash flow, DSCR, collateral, guarantor support.
• Prepare credit memos with background, sources, uses, projections and risk assessment.
• Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and supporting documents.
• Determine borrower eligibility under SBA/SBGLP requirements.
• Present credit recommendations to credit authority or loan committee.
• Ensure SBA/SBGLP underwriting complies with program requirements and internal policies.
• Coordinate with Sales, Closing, Credit Administration and outside vendors for underwriting data.
