Job summary

Bank of America is seeking an experienced Specialty Channel Underwriter to manage SBA and commercial underwriting for Small Business Administration credit requests. You will analyze financials, assess risk, and make timely credit decisions while ensuring adherence to policies and SBA procedures.

Reporting to the Specialty Credit Manager, you will collaborate with Relationship Managers, Solution Advisors and Risk teammates. A strong foundation in credit and financial analysis is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of commercial underwriting and credit analysis experience in Business Banking, Middle Market, Leveraged Finance, etc.
• Minimum 2 years SBA lending experience preferred.
• Formal commercial credit training or equivalent work experience.
• Industry knowledge across multiple sectors.
• Experience in a high-volume production environment.
• Superior teamwork skills in the commercial market space.
• Strong communication skills; ability to communicate across levels and externally.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, underwrite, and approve credit solutions for existing and new clients; approve SBA requests per credit grid.
• Conduct credit analysis including financial spreads, risk rating scorecards, industry assessment, business and personal cash flow; complete documentation.
• Evaluate credit worthiness and decide on SBA credit facility approvals.
• Ensure underwriting complies with credit policy and SBA SOP.
• Partner with Relationship Managers and Risk teammates to deliver SBA credit solutions.
• Ensure data quality of credit-related client and deal information.
• Mentor and assist junior team members as applicable.
