Job summary

Fifth Third Bank is seeking an SBA Lending Consultant to serve as the SBA subject matter expert, educating customers and internal partners on SBA loan products and SOPs. You will structure loans to meet SBA guidelines and sell SBA products to existing customers and prospects, helping grow the bank’s SBA portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum three years of SBA lending experience, including origination and servicing.
• Strong knowledge of SBA loan programs and SOPs.
• Ability to structure and present compliant SBA loan deals.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to educate customers and partners.
• Experience partnering with bankers, business development officers, or sales teams.
• Experience navigating SBA eligibility and underwriting processes.
• Strong analytical and credit skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer SBA lending needs and ensure SOP compliance.
• Identify SBA-eligible lending opportunities with internal partners.
• Support in prospect conversations, loan structuring, and eligibility briefs for underwriting approval.
• Train frontline staff and partners on SBA programs and guidelines.
• Update teams on SBA policy changes or program enhancements.
• Coordinate with attorneys and internal/closing partners for timely loan closings.
• Maintain pipeline reporting and prepare SBA submission documentation.
