In this role, you work closely with engineering and production teams to cut, form, and prepare metal parts according to engineered drawings and project schedules. You take ownership of work quality, productivity, punctuality, safety, flexibility, and general housekeeping while performing saw and fabrication operations with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Cut, form, and prepare metal parts according to engineered drawings and project schedules.

  • Operate bandsaws and other cutting equipment to perform precise saw operations on metal materials.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineered drawings to determine cutting dimensions and fabrication requirements.

  • Use a tape measure accurately to lay out, verify, and confirm dimensions before and after cutting.

  • Coordinate with engineering and production teams to ensure parts meet specifications and project timelines.

  • Monitor the quality of all work produced, ensuring parts are cut and formed to exact measurements and tolerances.

  • Maintain consistent productivity while meeting daily and weekly production goals.

  • Work safely at all times, following shop safety procedures and using equipment correctly.

  • Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and project schedules.

  • Comfort working in a busy, hands-on, blue-collar fabrication environment.

  • Interest in metal fabrication and learning additional shop processes over time.

Why Work Here?

You join a large, locally rooted shop that values its people and offers strong individual benefits. The organization promotes a flexible approach to scheduling, focusing on helping you achieve 40 hours by the end of the week rather than rigid daily start and end times. Over time, you can access a competitive 401(k) program with a 6% match, enjoy 10 paid holidays, and benefit from regular bonuses. The shop hosts multiple events throughout the year, creating a friendly and engaging culture where people take pride in building unique and interesting products. Overtime is consistently available for those who want to increase their earnings, and the facility’s size and acreage reflect long-term stability and room for growth.

Work Environment

This position is based in a well-established steel fabrication shop with three buildings in the area, situated on a larger industrial property. The environment is typical of a blue-collar fabrication setting: it can be somewhat dirty, with no air conditioning, and involves working around heavy steel, cutting equipment, and fabrication tools. You work primarily on the shop floor, operating bandsaws and other machinery, handling metal materials, and moving between different workstations as needed. The atmosphere is hands-on, fast-paced, and production-focused, with opportunities for overtime and flexible weekly scheduling. Dress is practical and appropriate for a fabrication shop, with an emphasis on safety gear and durable work clothing suitable for a steel shop environment.
