Job summary

Aerotek in Fenton, MO seeks a Welder to perform MIG welding on carbon and stainless steels from blueprints in a structured fabrication shop. You will assemble, fit, and weld components to precise dimensions, operate shop tools, and maintain a clean, safe work environment on first shift (7:00 a.m.

– 3:30 p.m.). Ideal candidates have MIG welding experience in a fabrication setting, the ability to read blueprints, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • MIG welding experience in a fabrication or weld shop.
  • Fitting/assembling parts prior to welding.

Job Title: Welder Job Description

This role involves performing high-quality MIG welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other materials while working from detailed blueprints and shop drawings in a well-organized fabrication shop. You will assemble, fit, and weld components to precise dimensions, operate a variety of fabrication tools, and help maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment on a first-shift schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Perform MIG welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other materials according to job requirements and specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, welding symbols, and work instructions to plan and execute welding tasks accurately.
  • Measure, mark, cut, and fit materials to specified dimensions and tolerances using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Assemble parts and components prior to welding, ensuring proper alignment, fit-up, and joint preparation.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality standards, dimensional requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Operate fabrication equipment including saws, grinders, drills, and other shop tools safely and efficiently.
  • Perform minor equipment maintenance, such as cleaning and basic adjustments, and promptly report repair needs or equipment issues.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with company safety policies and shop procedures.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules, quality goals, and project deadlines.
  • Assist with other shop and fabrication duties as assigned, supporting overall workflow and productivity across the facility.
Essential Skills
  • Previous MIG welding experience in a fabrication or weld shop environment.
  • Previous fitting experience, including assembling and aligning parts prior to welding.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings accurately.
  • Knowledge of welding symbols, measurements, and basic shop mathematics.
  • Proficiency with measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, and calipers.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Experience with MIG welding on carbon steel and stainless steel.
  • Ability to perform flux core and TIG welding is highly valuable.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with blueprint reading and applying welding symbols in a production environment.
  • Hands-on experience with fitting and fabrication work, including cutting, grinding, and drilling.
  • Comfort operating common shop tools such as saws, grinders, and drills.
  • Familiarity with working in a weld shop environment and following safety protocols.
  • Flexibility to assist with a variety of shop and fabrication tasks as needed.

Work Environment

You will work in a very organized weld shop environment that can be hot due to the nature of welding and fabrication activities. The role operates on a first shift schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You will use fabrication equipment such as saws, grinders, drills, and various measuring tools while working with carbon steel, stainless steel, and other metals. The facilities are dedicated fabrication shops that emphasize safety, cleanliness, and efficient workflow.

This is a Contract position based out of Fenton, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
