Job summary

PDS Tech Commercial in El Segundo, CA seeks a Systems Engineer to help design and develop next-generation space-based communication systems. You will apply DSP, digital communications, and FPGA/ASIC expertise from concept through integration, testing, and in-orbit operations.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in DSP and communications theory, MATLAB/Simulink, and broad systems engineering experience, with eligibility for security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in core digital communications and signal processing theory.
• Experience with DSP and digital communications algorithms (equalization, Turbo/Viterbi coding, channel estimation, filter design, resampling).
• 3+ years of MATLAB or Simulink experience.
• 3+ years of systems engineering experience with requirements, allocation, verification and trade studies.
• 1+ years of FPGA/ASIC experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop next-generation RF and digital satellite communication systems.
• Develop and verify multi-rate, fixed-point signal processing algorithms.
• Conduct detailed performance analysis of signal processing models.
• Perform waveform development, analysis, and characterization.
• Conduct engineering trade studies to optimize solutions.
• Support satellite payload and spacecraft integration and testing.
• Contribute to HDL-level design and verification activities.
• Perform system design, requirements and verification activities.
• Collaborate across the engineering lifecycle from concept to testing.
• Work with customers, suppliers, program management and engineers.
• Lead engineering teams and technical initiatives when assigned.
• Support internal R&D activities for future capabilities.
• Maintain regular attendance aligned to program objectives.
