Job summary

Rocket Lab in Tucson, AZ seeks a Senior Director, Business Development - Satellites to drive growth in the national security satellite market. You will identify opportunities, lead capture efforts, and build strategic partnerships with government clients and prime contractors.

You will collaborate with engineering, operations, and proposals teams to develop winning proposals, manage relationships across all levels, and help Rocket Lab expand its satellite capabilities and offerings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in business development, program management, or systems engineering within the aerospace sector.
• In-depth knowledge of government acquisition processes, government contracting, and the national security landscape.
• Proven track record of securing large (> $20M) contracts and managing strategic relationships within the aerospace industry.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Ability to support frequent domestic and international travel (up to 50%).

Responsibilities

• Lead satellite defense business development initiatives.
• Develop and execute capture strategies for large defense or civil space contracts.
• Engage with key customer stakeholders to build long-term relationships.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prepare and deliver compelling proposals.
• Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to inform strategy.
• Grow opportunities with existing customers and develop new business.
• Present Rocket Lab’s capabilities to provide satellite solutions and bus offerings.
• Lead or participate in proposal activities including cost and technical content.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure alignment and efficient operations.
• Represent Rocket Lab at industry conferences and customer meetings.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline

Master’s degree in aerospace engineering or related engineering field; or business
