  • Prior teaching experience with high school or undergraduate students.

Primary Location: BARUCH COLLEGE
Bargaining Unit: No Description of Organization: The Baruch STEP Academy is an academic enrichment program focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and providing college preparation.
Managed through the CUNY Research Foundation, we serve 200 middle and high school students throughout the city each year.

Position: In-Person High School Instructor
Course Title: SAT Math Preparation
Schedule: 10:35am-12pm

Course Description: The course will prepare upper class high school students for the math section (Geometry, Trigonometry, Algebra I and II) of the SAT. Test taking tips and strategies that will be reviewed.

Summary of Responsibilities
  • Plan and teach original course curriculum

  • Monitor and maintain student attendance records
  • Reassess curriculum based on student needs, interest, and understanding of material
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Required Availability for each program day from 10:30am-12pm
  • Strong background in the subject area
  • Experience in a teaching capacity within subject area
  • Experience with designing/implementing a course curriculum
  • Have a strong classroom management style
  • Preferred Degree in mathematics or related subject
  • Prior teaching experience with high school or undergraduate students
  • Ability to engage students with creative lessons and innovative teaching style
  • Possess good interpersonal skills with adolescents and a strong understanding of their maturity levels
  • Enthusiasm for the subject with flexibility in adjusting curriculum to reflect students' abilities

Pay Range

$45 per hour

These functions include legal assessment and signing of agreements where RFCUNY is named as a fiscal agent; setting up award accounts; preparing sub-awards and assisting PIs in monitoring the work of the recipients of sub-awards; supporting project directors with hiring and managing research project and sponsored program staff; supporting the purchasing and paying for goods and services with grant and program funds; managing financial aspects of projects including accounts receivable, financial reporting, invoicing, budget monitoring, and cost compliance with uniform guidance; ensuring that sponsor financial requirements are met; monitoring compliance with applicable project and financial management rules and laws; supporting the management of independent and external audits and financial reviews; and providing data, information, management expertise, and other supports to CUNY’s research and sponsored programs.
