Job summary

RFCUNY Research Foundation of the City University of New York is seeking an in-person High School In-Person Instructor for Immunology & Human Health to deliver curriculum and assess student learning. The Baruch STEP Academy program targets STEM education and college preparation for 200 middle and high school students annually.

Responsibilities include preparing and teaching the curriculum for 20-22 students, evaluating progress, maintaining attendance records, and adapting materials to student

Qualifications

  • Availability for each program day from 10:30am-12pm.
  • Strong background in the subject area.
  • Experience in a teaching capacity within subject area.
  • Experience with designing/implementing a course curriculum.
  • Have a strong classroom management style.
  • Preferred: Degree in biology or related subject.
  • Preferred: Prior teaching experience with high school or undergraduate students.
  • Preferred: Ability to engage students with creative lessons and innovative teaching style.
  • Preferred: Possess good interpersonal skills with adolescents and a strong understanding of their maturity levels.
  • Preferred: Enthusiasm for the subject with flexibility in adjusting curriculum to reflect students' abilities.

Primary Location: BARUCH COLLEGE Bargaining Unit: No Description. The Baruch STEP Academy is an academic enrichment program focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and providing college preparation. Managed through the CUNY Research Foundation, we serve 200 middle and high school students throughout the city each year.

High School In-Person Instructor Course: Immunology & Human Health | Schedule: 10:35am-12pm
Course Description

This course examines the body's immune system and the ways it protects against disease. Students will look at the cells, organs, and molecules that defend the body from bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. This course also addresses how vaccines function, what triggers allergies, and the way autoimmune diseases develop.

Additional Information

This biology elective is designed for students interested in strengthening their science literacy skills and exploring STEM careers.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $45 hourly
