Job summary

Michael Foods, Inc. Wakefield facility is seeking a Sanitation Technician to maintain cleanliness and ensure food safety. You will follow master sanitation schedules, assist with start-up procedures, and support a safe, compliant work environment.

Prior sanitation or manufacturing exposure is preferred, with training provided as needed. The role requires physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work weekends/holidays/overtime as needed, and collaborate across teams to meet plant sanitation goals.

Qualifications

• No prior experience or training required.
• Preferred manufacturing and/or sanitation experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a company pallet jack license. Experience with pallet jack and/or forklift preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must demonstrate open and honest communication.
• Demonstrates the ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively with others to complete work assignments.
• Able to safely lift and carry 50lbs.
• Able to work independently or with others in a team environment depending upon the assignment.
• Self-motivated while also willing to ask questions and seek direction.
• Displays responsible behavior at work.
• Open to change.
• Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty and humid environments.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of department area.
• Accountable for performing daily, weekly and monthly master sanitation schedules.
• Follow daily production start-up procedures.
• Crosstrain in sanitation jobs.
• Report any equipment/mechanical problems.
• Able to use team efforts when inspecting area.
• Follow GMPs, safety policies and plant goals.
• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
