Job summary

City of Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a sanitation worker to operate and maintain sanitation equipment, collect debris along assigned routes, and perform related tasks under supervision of the Sanitation Operations Supervisor.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED with moderate sanitation experience, ability to perform heavy manual work, and a valid CDL Class B endorsement. Candidates should be able to work in varying weather and maintain safety standards across daily routes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in sanitation operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in performance of heavy manual work and in the operation of automotive equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operates rear loader, side loader, or other refuse collection trucks and complete other tasks within the work group as needed.
• Completes pre and post route equipment safety checks.
• Reports violations of ordinances to citizens and supervisor.
• Cleans and maintains refuse truck and equipment.
