Job summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking a Sanitation Equipment Operator Senior to operate automated collection vehicles and assist with rear-end loading as required. Hours are 6:30am until complete, with overtime and night/weekend work possible.

CDL is mandatory, and safety, training, and background checks apply. Minimum five years related work experience or a high school diploma plus three years related experience.

Qualifications

• Five years related work experience or a high school diploma with three years of related work experience.
• CDL required to operate heavy sanitation vehicles.
• Ability to read maps, follow routes, and adhere to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Operate automated sanitation collection vehicle and assist with rear-end loading when needed.
• Inspect equipment daily for readiness and safety.
• Complete assigned routes on schedule and safely.
• Perform related manual labor and lift containers up to 100 lbs.

Skills

CDL (Class A/B)

Heavy equipment experience

Valid City driving permit

Knowledge of traffic laws

Physical stamina (lift 100 lbs)
