Job summary

The Sanitation Equipment Operator Senior at City of Charlotte operates an automated collection vehicle to service residential waste, yard waste, and business garbage, primarily in the Belmont neighborhood. Shift runs 6:30am until complete with overtime and weekend hours as needed.

Requires a valid CDL Class A or B, ability to lift 100 lbs, and experience operating heavy equipment; background checks and pre-employment screening apply; benefits package available.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL required.
• Experience operating heavy equipment.
• Ability to read and follow street maps and driving routes.
• Ability to lift and carry 100 lbs.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate automated sanitation collection vehicle to collect residential waste, yard waste, and business garbage.
• Perform daily inspections of equipment for readiness and safety.
• Complete assigned collection routes safely and on time.
• Perform related manual labor tasks such as lifting and emptying containers.
• Possibility to lead a small crew as the lead person on duty.
