Job summary

Airgas is seeking an Operations Manager in San Diego, CA to direct the manufacture and distribution of gases in a fast-paced production environment. You will oversee safety, quality, service and cost control, and lead operations personnel through budgeting and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in industrial gas operations, strong supervisory experience, and a proven ability to optimize processes while maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 5+ years of experience in industrial gas/packaged gas industry plant environment, petrochemical, or related industries in operations and/or engineering or related activities.
• Minimum 2 years in supervisory role.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be customer service oriented and able to interact with the public in a professional manner.
• Must be able to work flexible hours to meet customer needs and management expectations.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
• Must have good math skills; ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages; ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
• Proficiency with SAP software desired.
• Significant training in Safety and Compliance (OSHA, DOT, EPA, FDA)
• Compliance with applicable federal, state, local regulatory procedures (CGMP, DOT, OSHA, FDA)
• Must have extensive coordination experience in a multi team environment.

Responsibilities

• Directs and controls the manufacture and distribution of packaged and bulk gases in a production environment.
• Responsible for the coordination of plant safety, maintenance, compliance, staffing, training, associate performance, capital expenditures and operational budgets.
• Leads daily safety meetings.
• Creates, implements and revises standard operating practices.
• Ensures adequate cylinder supply to meet customer needs.
• Reviews production orders and schedules to plan efficient and cost effective operations.
• Resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to minimize costs and delays.
• Compiles and analyzes production data to meet customer needs and retain customers.
