Job summary

Cherry Bekaert LLP is seeking a SALT Manager, Income and Franchise Tax, to advise clients on multistate tax matters and develop client relationships. The role guides engagement teams across industries, delivering practical tax planning and compliance solutions.

You will research state and local tax issues, lead nexus reviews, and coordinate with compliance teams. CPA and/or JD are preferred, with 5+ years of experience in multistate tax.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of multistate income/franchise tax experience from public accounting, industry, or revenue agencies.
• Knowledge of nexus, tax planning, compliance, research, and audit support.
• Ability to translate complex tax matters into clear client guidance.
• Experience leading multiple client engagements and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage a range of multistate income and franchise tax engagements.
• Advise clients on methods to reduce multistate tax exposure through filings, credits, exemptions, and incentives.
• Research complex state and local tax issues and prepare technical memoranda and client communications.
• Lead nexus reviews and support state and local tax audits.
• Coordinate with tax compliance teams and review returns for accuracy and quality.
• Monitor regulatory developments and communicate impacts to teams and clients.
• Oversee engagement workflows, delegate tasks, and coach junior staff.
