Job summary

KPMG LLP in Chicago seeks a Manager to join its State and Local Tax practice. You will lead multi-state tax engagements, review state income tax returns, and mentor staff within a high-energy team.

Responsibilities include building client relationships, delivering compliance and consulting services for pass-through and corporate entities, and applying deep knowledge of multi-state tax concepts. CPA/EA/JD/LLM/ MTX credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• At least five years of recent experience preparing or reviewing state income tax returns for pass-through and corporate entities.
• Bachelor’s degree; CPA/EA/JD/LLM or MTX among approved credentials; may need to obtain within one year if not held at start.
• Experience serving pass-through entities with knowledge of state tax concepts.
• Ability to build client relationships and work in a high-energy team.
• Strong writing, communication, project, and tax research skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in compliance and consulting projects for multi-state alternative investment clients (hedge fund, fund of funds, private equity, real estate).
• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team helping to provide subject matter/alternative investment industry knowledge and experience.
• Review tax calculations and information presented on state income tax returns.
• Build and manage client relationships, and supervise, mentor, and develop staff.
