Job summary

Kansas Ag Connection is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead and grow the building side of the business, focusing on pre-engineered building solutions for agricultural, commercial, and industrial markets.

This role requires at least 5 years in building-related sales with leadership experience, strong market development skills, and the ability to manage a remote sales team across a Midwest territory.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of sales experience in building, construction, steel building, agricultural building, or related industry.
  • Previous sales leadership or sales management experience.
  • Strong understanding of building products, systems, quoting, pricing, and the sales process.
  • Proven track record of developing new business and growing sales.
  • Experience working with contractors, dealers, distributors, agricultural or commercial/industrial customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and support the sales team to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to grow the building business and expand market share.
  • Establish sales territories, goals, quotas, and performance expectations.
  • Identify new markets, customers, dealers, contractors, and business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, dealers, distributors, and other industry partners.
  • Work with customers to understand project requirements and recommend appropriate building solutions.
  • Develop pricing strategies, quotes, and proposals balancing company objectives and customer needs.
  • Review sales activity, project pipelines, and profitability to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor sales performance and key metrics to guide business decisions.
  • Forecast sales and manage the pipeline to support business growth.
  • Partner with marketing to increase brand awareness, generate leads, and strengthen presence in target markets.

Job Description: Our client is a well-established manufacturer providing pre-engineered building solutions for agricultural, commercial, and industrial markets. They are looking for an experienced Sales Manager to lead and grow the building side of the business.

This is a hands-on sales leadership opportunity for someone who understands the building industry, knows how to develop markets and customer relationships, and can help drive continued sales growth.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in building systems, pre-engineered steel buildings, construction products, agricultural buildings, or a related industry, along with proven experience leading sales efforts and developing new business.

What You'll Do
  • Lead, manage, and support the sales team to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to grow the building business and expand market share.

  • Work directly with customers to understand project requirements and recommend appropriate building solutions.
  • Develop pricing strategies, quotes, and proposals while balancing company objectives and customer needs.
  • Review sales activity, project pipelines, operational reports, and profitability to identify opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Monitor sales performance and key metrics and use data to guide business decisions.
  • Forecast sales and manage the pipeline to support business growth.
  • Partner with marketing to increase brand awareness, generate leads, and strengthen the company's presence within target markets.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, dealer meetings, and trade association events.
  • Help develop sales training programs and coach team members on products, sales strategies, quoting, and customer development.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a smooth process from quoting through order fulfillment and delivery.
  • Stay current on market trends, competitive activity, customer needs, and opportunities within the building industry.
  • Travel domestically approximately 15% of the time.
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of sales experience within the building, construction, steel building, agricultural building, or related industry.
  • Previous sales leadership or sales management experience.
  • Strong understanding of building products, systems, quoting, pricing, and the sales process.
  • Proven track record of developing new business and growing sales.
  • Experience working with contractors, dealers, distributors, agricultural customers, or commercial/industrial customers.
  • Strong business development and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze sales data, market opportunities, and profitability.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to establish priorities, manage a sales pipeline, and effectively forecast business.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while collaborating with internal teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically.
  • Valid driver's license and passport required.
  • Associate degree, technical education, or equivalent industry experience preferred.
