Job description

What we need

We are seeking a highly experienced Sales Leader to drive our commercial sales efforts and deliver revenue growth at Symbotic. In this role, the individual will be responsible for executing the sales strategy, including sourcing & developing leads, managing deal design and flow, and closing multi-year contracts. This role will collaborate with various teams across Symbotic and our customers, including sales, finance, legal, engineering, product, and key stakeholders such as operations, IT, and the full C-Suite, to create customer value from concept to benefit realization, meeting supply chain network automation needs.

What you’ll do

  • Work with cross-functional teams to generate sales leads, engineer customer value, design deal structures, and shepherd opportunities to contract signature.
  • Identify new opportunities in emerging industries, including manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, and retail automation.
  • Manage pipeline opportunities to ensure accurate forecasting, consistent deal flow, and timely sales strategy execution.
  • Collaborate with marketing and product teams to refine go-to-market strategies aligned with customer needs.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in developing new solution configurations and designs that integrate Symbotic systems into customer facilities.
  • Understand customer challenges and motivations for automation, proposing solutions that improve productivity and value.
  • Build strategic relationships with key customers for deeper partnerships and upselling/cross-selling opportunities.
  • Translate business needs into specific hardware, software, or system-level recommendations to enhance our value proposition.
  • Develop comprehensive warehouse and customer site layouts in collaboration with designers.
  • Coordinate with Systems Engineering for process definition and modeling needs.
  • Lead sales calls to address technical questions about Symbotic solutions.
  • Drive high-quality sales proposals leading to closed deals.
  • Capture customer requirements to inform product evolution.
  • Present confidently to large, executive audiences.
  • Foster a professional team environment and collaborate effectively with engineering teams.

What you’ll need

  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in the materials handling industry.
  • Proven success in closing large projects ($50M+).
  • Ability to manage complex proposals in automated materials handling.
  • Leadership experience with cross-functional teams, including indirect leadership.
  • Experience with financial analysis, business case justification, and cost/benefit analysis.
  • Strong presentation skills for executive-level audiences.
  • Excellent team player with professional collaboration skills.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Strong sales, customer service, and commercial instincts.
  • Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing startup environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, with valid driver’s license and means to travel.
  • Ownership of a credit card and expense management responsibility.
