Sales Application Specialist – Pacific Northwest
Territory: Seattle, WA to Portland, OR
We are partnering with a leading manufacturer of high-performance cutting tools to identify a Sales Application Specialist for the Pacific Northwest territory. This position will cover the market from the Seattle, Washington area through Portland, Oregon, working closely with manufacturing customers and distribution partners throughout the region.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong CNC machining and metalworking knowledge who enjoys solving manufacturing challenges and working directly with customers. Previous sales experience is preferred but not required. Candidates coming directly from a machining, manufacturing, applications, or technical background will be considered.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop and support customers throughout the Seattle-to-Portland territory.
- Call directly on end-user manufacturing accounts to identify machining challenges and opportunities.
- Work through and alongside industrial distribution partners to develop business and support customers.
- Provide technical support and product recommendations related to cutting tools and CNC machining applications.
- Conduct tooling evaluations, test cuts, troubleshooting, and process improvement activities at customer facilities.
- Help customers improve productivity, tool life, cycle times, and overall machining performance.
- Develop relationships with machinists, programmers, manufacturing engineers, production leaders, purchasing personnel, and other key decision-makers.
- Identify new business opportunities while supporting and growing existing customer relationships.
- Collaborate with distributor sales representatives on joint customer calls and territory development.
- Maintain a strong understanding of customer applications, competitive products, and market activity throughout the territory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong technical understanding of CNC machining, metal cutting, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with CNC machine tools, cutting tools, programming, applications engineering, machining, or manufacturing engineering.
- Ability to understand machining applications and recommend practical solutions to manufacturing challenges.
- Previous technical sales, cutting tool sales, or industrial distribution experience is preferred, but not required.
- Candidates with hands-on manufacturing experience who are interested in transitioning into a customer-facing technical sales career are encouraged to apply.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable working independently and managing a geographic sales territory.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the Seattle-to-Portland market.
