Job summary

Xpertis Talent is seeking two Motion Control Sales Engineers for Junior/Intermediate and Senior levels in West Chester, OH. You will blend engineering knowledge with consultative sales to deliver automation solutions for OEMs and industrial end users.

The role is direct hire, requires travel across Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and nationwide as needed. You will specify servo drives, motors, VFDs, PLC/HMI platforms, robotics, and prepare technical quotations to support orders.

Qualifications

• Experience in technical sales or applications engineering within industrial automation.
• Knowledge of servo systems, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and machine-control applications is preferred.
• Engineering degree in electrical/mechanical/mechatronics/automation or equivalent experience requested.

Responsibilities

• Developing new OEM and end-user accounts and expanding relationships with existing customers.
• Work with customer engineering teams to understand applications and recommend motion control solutions.
• Specify and position servo drives, motors, VFDs, PLC/HMI, robotics and related components.
• Prepare technical quotations, proposals and commercial offers; support negotiations to order.
• Collaborate with internal engineering and applications teams to validate solutions and coordinate handovers.
• Manage customer relationships, maintain a sales pipeline, and contribute to revenue and gross margin targets.
• Support distributor networks and expand company presence across the territory.

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 base salary + Performance-Based Commission + Benefits

OTE: $125,000 - $150,000 year 1.

My client, a well-established industrial automation and controls engineering business, is looking to add two Motion Control Sales Engineers to its growing team, with opportunities available at Junior / Intermediate and Senior levels.

Specialising in the design, integration and commissioning of bespoke automation and control systems, the business supports OEMs and industrial end users across a range of industries. Its solutions encompass motion control, servo systems, variable frequency drives, PLC/HMI platforms, robotics and custom-engineered automation equipment.

These positions offer the opportunity to combine technical engineering knowledge with consultative sales, developing customer relationships and identifying opportunities to deliver both individual automation components and wider integrated systems.

The Sales Engineer role will involve:

• Developing new OEM and industrial end-user accounts while expanding relationships with existing customers.
• Working directly with customer engineering teams to understand applications and recommend suitable motion control and automation solutions.
• Specifying and positioning servo drives, motors, VFDs, PLC/HMI platforms, robotics and associated control components.
• Preparing technical quotations, proposals and commercial offers, supporting negotiations and managing opportunities through to order.
• Collaborating with internal engineering and applications teams to validate solutions and coordinate project handovers.
• Managing customer relationships, maintaining an active sales pipeline and contributing towards revenue and gross-margin targets.
• Supporting distributor and representative networks, where applicable, and identifying opportunities to expand the company's presence across its territory.

The Sales Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• Experience in technical sales, applications engineering or technical account management within industrial automation, motion control, machine building or industrial machinery.
• Working knowledge of servo systems, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, robotics and integrated machine-control applications.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage engineering, operations, purchasing and senior-level stakeholders.
• Experience developing customer accounts, identifying new business opportunities and preparing technical quotations or proposals.
• An engineering qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
• A commercially driven, customer-focused approach, with the ability to manage opportunities and build long-term relationships.
• Willingness to travel to customers across Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky, with additional nationwide travel as required.
