Base pay range

$90,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr

As a Sales Engineer, you will serve as a strategic technical advisor and subject matter expert for municipal, utility, and contractor partners. Your strong knowledge of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure will help elevate our brand as a trusted provider of ductile iron fittings and related solutions for municipal and public works projects. Your efforts will drive product specifications, deepen relationships with key stakeholders, and support the sales force across a broad territory.

This position requires 80% travel - minimum average of 3 nights per week. You will be remote when not traveling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical resource on waterworks products—including fittings, gaskets, restraints, and specialty components—for engineering firms, utilities, and municipal agencies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with top water utility engineers, public works departments, specifying officials, and code enforcement bodies.
  • Promote the use of domestically manufactured waterworks products by influencing project specifications and delivering engaging technical presentations.
  • Serve as a go-to expert for field troubleshooting and support, particularly for water distribution and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Track and report on bid opportunities in the planning, design, and pre-bid stages of major waterworks projects.
  • Enter and manage technical contacts, sales activity, and engineering firm data into the CRM system.
  • Travel with sales reps to coach and develop their understanding of municipal waterworks specifications and compliance requirements.
  • Assist with technical training for new sales hires and represent in cross-functional product development conversations, especially as they relate to water infrastructure applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil or Environmental preferred); PE license a plus.
  • At least 5 years of industry experience in the water, wastewater, or utility sectors, with a strong network in public infrastructure and waterworks contracting.
  • Familiarity with AWWA standards, municipal procurement practices, and utility specifications.
  • Ability to travel extensively (approx. 3 nights per week) throughout the East Region.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM tools; previous experience in a specification-driven sales environment is highly valued.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills tailored to the waterworks industry.
