The position is responsible for supporting Datalogic’s internal sales team, partners, systems integrators, and end-users providing device integration, arranging testing to ensure customer acceptance, and coordinating integration activities with various internal and external support groups. This technical, not developer, role supports Enterprise Rugged Devices. The Datalogic Application Engineer is a “go-to” person who bridges the gap between Scanning Technology and integration into the customer’s environment to meet their needs. Additionally, the AE will provide feedback from customers on product capability and provide valuable input for product development.
ROLE MISSION
Success will generate incremental sales of our products by securing long-term business relationships with end users and resellers of Datalogic’s products, solutions, and services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide sales support to named prospective and existing customers to convey our ability and experience and to demonstrate value in operations that can be gained by applying automatic identification solutions to mobility enabled business processes;
- Make high level joint sales calls to potential customers and resellers to present Datalogic’s products, systems, and services;
- Continually drive development of strategic accounts and industries, maintaining focus over a long sales cycle;
- Meet objectives for sales revenue, customer satisfaction, and sales team satisfaction;
- Manage the application feasibility study, defining the solution in terms of HW, SW, Services and the related bill of materials;
- Define and manage the needed laboratory testing to validate the solution;
- Manage survey and simple demo at customers’ site;
- Estimate the effort required for any service and submit (SPR = Special Product Request) to develop custom HW/SW.
- Provide project management support during RFP responses and strategic opportunity pursuits.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Education (School/Specialization) Bachelor’s degree in a Technical field desired or equivalent related work experience
Overall Technical Skills
- Experienced with installation and configuration of bi-optic scanning products in Tier 1 retail environment
- Experience with Android Enterprise OS; Google AER Expert certification desired
- Hands-on experience with multiple EMM/MDM platforms
- Working knowledge of Android SDKs and programming languages;
- Experience with wireless communications infrastructure and troubleshooting connectivity issues
- Experience with private 5G / LTE networking environments
- Experience with WWAN technologies, both carrier-direct and via consolidated SIM services (AT&T, Verizon, others)
- Understanding of TCP/IP and Ethernet (preferred)
- Willingness to travel frequently (up to 60%)
- Language: Fluent in English (Required); strong written and verbal communication
- 5+ years experience with testing, installing, and configuring bi-optic scanners in a retail grocery environment
- sales or technical experience in the enterprise mobility space
- Experience with a major systems or software integrator in a related field is a plus
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting rugged devices, scanners, and mobile printers.
