Job summary

The University of Virginia Bookstore in Charlottesville, VA seeks a Sales Associate to greet customers, answer questions, and keep the floor well-presented.

Sales Associate Responsibilities

• Greet and offer assistance to customers.
• Recognize levels of stock on sales floor and replenish accordingly.
• Continually fix and neaten sales floor area and replace tags as directed.
• Respond to customer inquiries on the sales floor and over the telephone.
• Receive designated purchase orders and daily transfers.
• Keep stockroom clean, safe, and well organized.
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of related work experience.
• Strong communication and active listening skills to provide exceptional customer service.
• Knowledge of cash handling and math skills.
• Demonstrated excellence in decision making.
• Strong organizational skills.
• The availability to work weekend and evening shifts.
• This position requires standing for an 8-hour shift and frequently bending/lifting/walking and the ability to lift/push/pull up to 45 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2-3 years of related work experience.

This position is in Charlottesville, VA
