Job summary

Cox Automotive is seeking a Driver I for a non-DOT, on-site role with a Thursday 8am–12pm shift. The position offers hourly pay and may include commissions or incentives. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required, with a preference for a high school diploma.

You will operate in a fast-paced auction environment, supporting safety and efficiency on-site. Responsibilities include moving vehicles, assisting with basic vehicle maintenance, and helping dealers and coworkers.

Qualifications

• Must have valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Ability to enter/exit vehicles repeatedly and perform physical tasks as needed.
• Familiarity with standard/automatic transmissions is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive vehicles through Auction lanes on sale day safely.
• Move vehicles to designated areas and to customer dealerships, following rules of the road.
• Line up and park vehicles as directed and locate any “lost” vehicles.
• Assist with basic vehicle checks (inflating tires, jump-starts).
• Notify supervisor if a vehicle is inoperative or out of gas; assist customers and coworkers as needed.
• Follow all safety procedures and participate in Safety Excellence activities.

Job description

Driver I - Non-DOT Management Level Individual Contributor – Flexible Work Option No remote option; must work at a specified Cox location. Shift: Thursday 8am - 12pm. Compensation: Hourly pay rate is $17.60. Position may be eligible for additional compensation including commission and/or incentive program.

Job Responsibilities

• Drive vehicles through Auction lanes on sale day in a safe manner.
• Drive vehicles to and from designated areas on Auction premises and to and from customer dealerships and businesses, while observing Auction driving rules, rules of the road and demonstrating courtesy and defensive driving principles.
• Line up and park vehicles in the correct order as directed by supervisor or team leader, move vehicles as necessary, and locate "lost" vehicles.
• Assist with getting vehicles operating as needed (inflate tires, jump‑start vehicles using a battery box and air tank).
• Notify supervisor when a vehicle is inoperative; notify Service or Gas Truck Driver when vehicle is out of gas.
• Assist customers (dealers, account representatives, rental agencies, etc.) and coworkers as needed.
• Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such.
• Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Must be able to enter and exit vehicles constantly, sit for prolonged periods, walk long distances, stand, walk, reach, talk and hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.
• Ability to lift 1–15 pounds.
• Vision: close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
• Previous auction experience (preferred).

Drug Testing

To be employed in this role, you must clear a pre‑employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a pre‑employment drug test for marijuana for this position. The workplace is drug‑free; possession, use or being under the influence of illegal drugs during work hours is prohibited.
