Job summary

City of Fort Smith is seeking a Safety and Training Specialist to monitor workplace safety practices, conduct inspections, and assist in developing training programs for staff. The role interfaces with regulatory bodies and ensures compliance with state and federal requirements.

The incumbent will coordinate safety training sessions, maintain records, and support emergency preparedness efforts, reporting to the Training & Safety Supervisor while fostering a safe, compliant work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must obtain CDL with Passenger Endorsement within 9 months.
• One year of safety experience in general industry or construction.
• OSHA 30-hour course within 12 months.
• Must possess valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Audit and monitor workplace safety conditions and report findings.
• Conduct safety inspections.
• Verify safety equipment is inspected and maintained.
• Assist with compliance of environmental and safety regulations.
• Assist with development and implementation of training programs.
• Prepare and submit training approval requests with agencies.
• Maintain Safety Data Sheets records.
• Assist with development of safety procedures.
• Support safety training programs and emergency plans.
• Track and maintain related records.
• Regular attendance and timeliness.
