Job summary

The City of Fort Smith, Arkansas seeks a Training & Safety professional to monitor workplace safety, conduct inspections, and assist in implementing a comprehensive training program. You will help ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and support the Training & Safety Supervisor in daily operations.

Main duties include developing and delivering safety training, coordinating training sessions, and maintaining safety records and regulatory approvals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• CDL with Passenger Endorsement within 9 months.
• One year of safety experience in general industry or construction.
• OSHA 30-hour course within 12 months.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Audit and monitor workplace safety conditions and report findings.
• Conduct safety inspections.
• Verify safety equipment is inspected and maintained.
• Assist with compliance of state and federal safety and environmental regulations.
• Assist with development and implementation of a training program for employees in safety, technical and skills training.
• Prepare and submit training approval requests with the appropriate agencies that administer or regulate licensing and certification.
• Participate in physical inventory of chemical supplies and maintain Safety Data Sheets.
• Assist with development of safety procedures.
• Assist with safety training programs as needed (e.g., emergency action plans, risk management).
• Track and maintain related records.
• Regular attendance and timeliness is required.
