A Safety & Security Guard is responsible for providing protection for hotel guests, employees, and property. They also aim to create a sense of comfort and well-being by maintaining visibility. Depending on the hotel, they may be stationed in the base office for security at the Associate entrance and for conducting temperature checks during COVID procedures (as required).
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred
- Certificate of Completion in Safety and Security Training (must comply with State requirements)
- CPR, First Aid, and Heimlich maneuver Certified
Responsibilities
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Aimbridge Hospitality standards, as required by scheduling, which may vary according to hotel needs.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including proper uniform and name tag (per brand standards).
- Comply with Aimbridge Hospitality standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Answer phones and dispatch promptly, demonstrating proper two-way radio etiquette when communicating with other associates; maintain radio contact with the Front Desk/Night Auditor at all times.
- Maintain visual contact with the Front Desk/Night Auditor and the hotel front door by remaining in the lobby when not on patrol.
- Review and maintain the daily activity log.
- Maintain guest and associate confidentiality regarding incidents.
- Hold briefings with Guest Services staff at the beginning and end of shifts.
- Open secured areas for authorized personnel; check IDs of visitors/associates as necessary.
- Be aware of legal limitations of the position (local, state ordinances, etc.).
- Assist guests with their rooms or entry to rooms.
- Investigate thefts, auto accidents/thefts, and assault complaints for guests; serve as first responder and partner with management to write incident reports.
- Assist outside agencies as needed.
- Provide escort services.
- Assist HR/MOD with responding to associate altercations.
- Assist with intoxicated guests.
- Be knowledgeable about hotel and guestroom locking systems.
- Respond to security alarms and monitor CCTV cameras (if applicable).
- Challenge suspicious persons.
- Conduct rounds to check for safety hazards, lights, door locks, and items left on the property.
- Assist during medical emergencies, administering First Aid, CPR, or Heimlich maneuver as necessary.
- Complete incident/accident reports clearly and concisely in partnership with management.
- Receive deliveries and deliver items to guest rooms as needed.
- Assist Front Desk with express check-outs, newspaper delivery, and van runs as required.
- Handle items for Lost and Found according to standards.
- Attend meetings, work on special functions, and perform other duties as assigned.
