Job description

The main function of this position is to provide a reasonably safe and secure environment for our patients, visitors, volunteers, staff, and employees. To assist and support the Safety / Security / Emergency Management and Parking management programs.

Responsibilities
  1. Patrol hospital property and/or facilities to ensure a safe and secure environment, following department post orders and policies. Officers should cooperate with co-workers and other employees, conduct themselves professionally, and treat all patients, visitors, and staff fairly and courteously.
  2. Conduct inspections to identify potential and actual security, health, and safety hazards. Investigate hazards and submit safety reminders or Plant Operations requests as needed.
  3. Enforce hospital policies, procedures, and regulations, including court appearances if necessary.
  4. Investigate and document reports of criminal or unusual activity, crisis incidents, and policy violations, completing incident reports that are clear, concise, accurate, and professional.
  5. Respond to alarms, determine their source, and take appropriate action to normalize the situation, including extinguishing fires or containing incidents, controlling traffic, and ensuring minimal disruption to patient care.
  6. Manage traffic and parking on hospital property and in garages, issuing citations or towing violators as per hospital policy.
  7. Operate and monitor security systems, fire alarms, infant security, and other safety systems proficiently.
  8. Conduct inspections of safety, security, and fire system components, including monthly checks of security systems and fire extinguishers.
  9. Escort personnel, visitors, and employees to ensure their safety, including escorting to and from vehicles upon request.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned, such as relaying dispatch, locking/unlocking doors, handling lost and found items, radioactive package deliveries, motorist and medical assists, package/mail delivery, morgue releases, helicopter landing safety, and hospital ambassador duties.

Must possess specialized knowledge or skills required for the role. Skills include good communication and effective public interaction.

Education

High School diploma, Private Police Training, or equivalent.

Experience

Previous security experience preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

Valid driver’s license with appropriate endorsements.
