A Safety & Security Guard is responsible for providing protection for hotel guests, employees, and property. They also aim to ensure guests feel safe and comfortable by maintaining visibility. Depending on the hotel, they may be stationed in the base office for security of the Associate entrance and for conducting temperature checks during COVID procedures (as required).
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred
- Certificate of Completion in Safety and Security Training (must comply with State requirements)
- CPR, First Aid, and Heimlich maneuver Certified
Responsibilities
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance according to Aimbridge Hospitality standards, with scheduling based on hotel needs.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and name tag per brand standards.
- Comply with Aimbridge Hospitality standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Answer phones and dispatch promptly, demonstrating proper two-way radio etiquette and maintaining radio contact with the Front Desk/Night Auditor.
- Maintain visual contact with the Front Desk/Night Auditor and monitor the front door when not on patrol.
- Review and maintain the daily activity log.
- Keep guest and Associate incident information confidential.
- Conduct shift briefings with Guest Services staff at start and end of each shift.
- Open secured areas for authorized personnel; check IDs of visitors and Associates as necessary.
- Be aware of legal limitations related to the position, including local and state ordinances.
- Assist guests with their room entry or exit.
- Investigate incidents such as thefts, auto accidents, or assaults (not for employees); partner with leadership to document incidents.
- Assist outside agencies as required.
- Provide escort services.
- Respond to and assist with guest or staff altercations and intoxicated guests.
- Be knowledgeable about hotel security systems, including locks and alarms.
- Respond to security alarms, monitor CCTV cameras (if applicable), and challenge suspicious persons.
- Conduct regular rounds to check for hazards, ensure lights and locks are functioning, and pick up items left on property.
- Assist during medical emergencies with First Aid, CPR, or Heimlich maneuver as needed.
- Complete incident and accident reports clearly and accurately in partnership with leadership.
- Receive deliveries and deliver items to guest rooms as needed.
- Assist with front desk tasks such as express check-outs, newspaper delivery, and van runs if applicable.
- Manage Lost and Found items according to hotel standards.
- Participate in special functions, meetings, and perform other duties as required.
