Job Description

The Remote Security Officer provides services for a variety of large and small business clients in remote settings where health, safety, and security are our top priorities. All duties are performed in accordance with NMS' mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and patrol buildings, areas, or grounds visually or electronically.
  • Permit only authorized individuals to enter the property.
  • Inspect premises for security, including doors, windows, and gates.
  • Record data such as property damage or unusual occurrences.
  • Warn violators and potentially apprehend or expel them.
  • Notify on-site personnel of visitors.
  • Respond to emergencies to preserve life and property.
  • Operate access control systems and maintain visitor logs.
  • Check operational status of safety systems like heating, lighting, and fire alarms.
  • Provide transportation services using various vehicles.
  • Administer emergency medical interventions such as CPR and AED.
  • Report safety and sanitation issues to supervisors.
  • Perform other duties relevant to the department's success.
  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination; accommodations for medical or religious reasons.
  • At least three years of professional security, law enforcement, or military experience.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field may substitute experience.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record for three years.
  • Ability to obtain Alaska Guard License and pay associated fees.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Pass pre-employment requirements (drug test, physical, hearing test, etc.).
  • Ability to live in dormitory-style settings and meet cleanliness standards.
  • Teamwork and decision-making skills with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to stand for 12 hours per shift.
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Adherence to safety guidelines and regulations.
Additional Information for Residing Outside Anchorage

Travel and accommodations expenses are the responsibility of the employee for pre-employment testing and training. Anchorage is considered the point of hire for pre-employment processes, with exceptions for certain contracts within Alaska.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Indoor/outdoor work in arctic conditions, moderate to loud noise levels. Must be able to stand, walk, climb, and perform physical tasks as specified, including lifting 20 lbs., kneeling, and climbing stairs.
