Job summary

Ruan Transportation Management Systems seeks a Safety Compliance Specialist to ensure FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and EPA compliance across the organization. The role works independently and with operations, drivers, and safety-sensitive staff to provide guidance, training, coaching, audits, and data analysis.

Hybrid model with on-site at the Ruan Campus in Des Moines and up to 25% travel. You’ll maintain compliance information, support investigations, and collaborate with Claims, Legal, and HR to improve

Qualifications

• Experience ensuring FMCSA/DOT/OSHA/EPA compliance.
• Ability to analyze data and generate reports for safety performance.
• Experience conducting audits and safety training.
• Strong collaboration with operations and drivers.

Responsibilities

• Analyze reports, investigate issues, solve problems, and determine compliant options related to electronic logging functions, hours of service (HOS) compliance, and state/federal regulated documents required for CDL driver compliance.
• Advise and coach drivers, safety sensitive employees, management staff, and operation leaders in the area of regulatory compliance.
• Ensure adherence to safety and compliance policies through regular operational audits and compliance reviews.
• Serve as company's subject matter experts in all areas of state and federal DOT, FMCSA, and other regulatory/governing body rules and regulations.
• Work in collaboration with Claims, Legal, Human Resources, and other departments to support investigations and retain records related to potential litigation.
