Job summary

Ruan is seeking a Safety Compliance Specialist at the Des Moines campus to join a team dedicated to regulatory compliance and safety excellence. The role supports operations, drivers, and safety-sensitive staff, ensuring adherence to FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, EPA and internal policies.

The position offers a hybrid work model with up to 25% travel and opportunities to lead audits, training, and process improvements across departments.

Qualifications

• Associate/Technical degree or equivalent work experience.
• 1–2 years in Truck Transportation, Safety, or Regulatory Communications preferred.
• Knowledge of federal and state DOT, FMCSA regulations and OSHA/ EPA considerations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with electronic logging systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Analyze reports, investigate issues, and determine compliant options related to ELD, hours of service, and regulated documents for CDL driver compliance.
• Advise and coach drivers and safety-sensitive staff on regulatory requirements and documentation.
• Ensure adherence to safety/compliance policies through audits and reviews.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on DOT/FMCSA rules and stay current on regulatory changes.
• Collaborate with Claims, Legal, HR and other departments to support investigations and recordkeeping.
