Job summary

Granite State Scenic Railway is seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager (Safety Lead) to oversee safety culture and daily operations in Lincoln, NH. You will serve as on-site safety lead and work with the General Manager to ensure safe, customer-focused operations while guiding employee development and regulatory compliance.

The role requires strong leadership, field presence, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a tourist railroad environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hospitality experience or safety management in a railroad/transportation environment.
• Not a typical 9-5 role; weekend/holiday coverage may be required.
• Demonstrated leadership in a railroad, transportation, hospitality, or similar setting.
• Working knowledge of railway operations and safety practices.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily safety initiatives, audits, and training programs.
• Support daily railroad operations and customer service initiatives.
• Coach, mentor and develop the Granite State Railway team.
• Ensure compliance with FRA, OSHA, DOT and company standards.
• Engage with customers and community stakeholders to maintain strong relations.
