Job summary

Mass. Electric Construction Co., a Kiewit subsidiary, seeks a Safety Manager to lead and audit safety programs across transportation construction projects in the MEC Transportation District. This role upholds a 'Nobody Gets Hurt' culture and oversees EH&S practices on site.

You will develop training materials, analyze incident data, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate with OSHA officials while guiding teams to maintain safe work environments and meet project goals.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field; education/experience may be substituted as appropriate.
• 5 years of safety management experience in construction projects.
• BCSP certifications: CSP, ASP, CHST, STSC, CIT, or STS.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations; hazard recognition and injury management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Managing the company environmental health and safety programs at the project level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work.
• Compiling, analyzing, and interpreting occupational illness and accident data; recommending safety features to reduce exposure.
• Routinely inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Coaching employees on safe behaviors and developing training materials and records management.
• Interfacing with OSHA officials/inspectors during site visits and audits.
• Coordinating and presenting safety training for client requirements including orientations and fall protection.
