Job summary

Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) and Kiewit partner to deliver industrial projects with a strong safety focus.

We are seeking a Safety Specialist to develop, support, and audit the Site Specific Safety Plan, ensuring compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations and client safety expectations on our field operations. Reporting to a project Safety Manager, you will assist with incident investigations, hazard assessments, training, and daily safety communications with craft and supervision.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety and OSHA requirements.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel, with strong administrative skills.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, review, and communication of the Site Specific Safety Plan.
• Collaborate with field craft daily to promote safe program buy-in.
• Enforce Stop Work measures to ensure policy adherence.
• Plan and problem-solve with operations using leading indicators.
• Provide safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, and client requirements.
• Maintain project files per OSHA/MSHA and policy standards.
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Support first aid and coordinate with EMS/clinics as needed.
• Complete hazard inspections and coordinate corrective actions with teams.
• Review work plans and packs prior to start of work.
