Job summary

dnata is seeking a Safety Manager to drive the development, implementation, and promotion of a safe and healthy work environment. You will coordinate with Corporate Safety and local management to promote a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance across the IMS/SMS programs.

The role requires leading risk analyses, investigations of incidents, and effective training across all safety-related areas, with ability to work extended hours as needed and maintain FAA identifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or an equivalent level of education and experience.
• Minimum seven (7) years of experience in the aviation industry
• Must pass background check and drug screen
• Possess/maintain FAA/Airport required identification/seals or authorizations
• Must be flexible to work variable shifts, weekends, and holidays
• Specific shifts to be determined by administrative staff due to operational needs
• Must be able to work extended hours on short notice during irregular operation
• Ability to work in inclement weather

Responsibilities

• Supports safety policy implementation to meet local, state, and federal safety requirements.
• Consults with departments on safety and environmental programs design and use of equipment and facilities.
• Leads hazard and risk analysis and helps identify mitigation methods.
• Ensures training evolution (classroom, OJT, recurrent) is compliant and effective.
• Conducts observations, inspections and audits and communicates unsafe findings and corrective actions.
• Ensures compliance with regulations and customer requirements.
• Supports investigations of near misses and incidents to identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Maintains files and records as necessary.
• Provides direction and training to support IMS and SMS programs.
• Participates in safety board meetings and safety communications.
• Performs data analysis to identify trends and recommend safety improvements.
• Reviews and approves planning, design, and modifications affecting IMS/SMS.

Job description

The Safety Manager is an influential position dedicated to the development, implementation and promotion of a safe, accident free, and healthy work environment. Coordinates with the Corporate Safety department and local management in the development and implementation of dnata’sOne Safety program to promote a proactive safety culture.

You will

• Supports the implementation of safety policies and procedures to be followed by Company personnel in compliance with local, state, and federal occupational safety and health, environmental, and security requirements

• Consults with all departments on design and use of equipment, facilities, fire prevention, safety and environmental programs

• Leads hazard/risk analysis efforts and assists in the identification of mitigation methods

• Performs an assurance function as it relates to the entire training evolution – classroom, OJT and recurrent.

• Conducts observations, inspections and audits. Prepares reports and communicates unsafe findings to appropriate authorities addressing root causes and determining corrective action

• Ensures compliance with applicable regulations, internal policies and meeting compliance requirements from our customers

• Supports and drives the investigation of near misses, incidents, and coordinates the preparation of material and evidence to identify root causes for the purpose of developing corrective and preventative actions

• Maintain files and records as necessary

• Provides direction, management, technical expertise and training to support our IMS and SMS programs

• Ensures and participates in safety board meetings

• Proactively performs graphical and numerical analysis of hazards, near misses and incidents to determine trends. Provides recommendations to senior management in an effort to achieve the safest environment possible.

• Review/approve planning, design, and modification of materials processes, operations, personnel changes or building layouts affecting all aspects of the IMS/SMS.
