Job description

Location: TDA AGH — Station-Based

Employment Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Standard business hours with flexibility to support station operations, safety events, and incident response as needed.

General Purpose Of The Job

Safety is not a department at TDA AGH — it is a culture. As Safety and Security Manager, you play a hands-on role in supporting and sustaining that culture at the station level. Working closely with station management and the TDA Safety team, you will help monitor safety compliance, support incident reporting and investigations, coordinate safety training, and serve as a visible, approachable safety resource for frontline teams. You will be responsible for a region of stations and travel as needed to support multiple operations.

This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and genuinely passionate about keeping people safe. You do not need to have all the answers — but you do need to ask the right questions, follow through on every action item, and consistently model the safety-first behaviors TDA expects of everyone on the team.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Safety Compliance & Monitoring
  • Support the Safety Management System (SMS) program by ensuring safety program elements are being carried out day-to-day.
  • Monitor station compliance with FAA, TSA, OSHA, IATA, and company safety standards; flag concerns to station management and the Safety team promptly.
  • Conduct routine safety walkthroughs, inspections, and risk assessments; identify hazards, document findings, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Track and report safety and security trends at stations; elevate patterns or recurring issues to leadership.
Incident Reporting & Investigation Support
  • Assist station management in documenting and reporting safety incidents and accidents accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Enter and maintain incident records in the SMS management platform.
  • Support root cause analysis and help track corrective action items through closure.
Training & Safety Education
  • Coordinate and facilitate monthly station safety meetings and safety workshops.
  • Distribute and review safety educational materials; ensure all team members have access to current safety resources.
  • Support the delivery of required safety training through the Learning Management System (LMS); track completion and flag overdue items.
  • Serve as a visible safety presence — engage with frontline employees, answer safety questions, and reinforce safe behaviors in real time.
Administrative & Program Support
  • Ensure reporting and documentation requirements are complete and accurate for your stations.
  • Leverage data and Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) to drive actions.
  • Complete all required training.
  • Report any safety hazard or incident immediately per TDA SMS protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned by station leadership or the Director of Safety and Security.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Experience in the aviation industry or a similarly regulated operational environment.
  • Basic understanding of FAA, TSA, and OSHA safety regulations as they apply to airport ground handling operations.
  • Experience with IATA ground handling requirements and ISAGO certification standards.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to document incidents, track action items, and maintain accurate records.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable facilitating group safety meetings and communicating safety information clearly to frontline employees.
  • Must be able to work on the ramp and in operational areas as part of safety inspections and walkthroughs.
  • Must be willing to travel 30%.
  • Must successfully complete a 10-year background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred
  • Prior experience supporting a Safety Management System (SMS) program.
  • Experience with the ISAGO standards and certification requirements.
  • Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) for training coordination.
  • OSHA 10-hour General Industry certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Prior ramp, ground handling, or airline operations experience strongly valued.
Work Environment

This is a station-based role that combines office work with regular time on the ramp and in operational areas. Exposure to outdoor environments including extreme weather conditions, aircraft noise, fuel vapors, jet exhaust, and ground service equipment is expected. Personal protective equipment is required and provided when working in operational areas.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to navigate airport ramp and operational environments safely, including walking on uneven surfaces and working around active aircraft and ground equipment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer-based work when in an office or administrative setting.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must have sufficient vision and physical ability to safely conduct site inspections and perform all essential functions of the position.
Key Competencies
  • Safety Mindset: Genuinely committed to keeping people safe; takes safety seriously every day, not just during audits or incidents.
  • Attention to Detail: Thorough and precise in documentation, inspections, and follow-up; nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Communication: Clearly conveys safety information to frontline employees and management; approachable, credible, and consistent.
  • Follow-Through: Tracks every action item, corrective measure, and training requirement to verified completion.
  • Proactive Awareness: Looks for hazards and trends before incidents occur; raises concerns early and constructively.
  • Collaboration: Works effectively with station managers, frontline teams, and the TDA Safety department; earns trust as a resource, not just a compliance checker.
  • Reliability & Accountability: Dependable and self-directed; takes ownership of the safety program at the station level with minimal supervision.
  • Adaptability: Adjusts priorities fluidly in response to operational changes, incidents, or evolving safety requirements.
