Job summary

Nova Lines is seeking a Safety Coordinator to provide administrative and operational support to the Operations and Safety department. You will evaluate driver performance, assist in safety investigations, and support coaching, retraining, and corrective actions across drivers and internal teams.

The role emphasizes effective communication, attention to detail, and collaboration with the Operations & Safety Manager to identify risks and implement improvements in HOS compliance, load securement,

Qualifications

• Previous experience in transportation, safety, operations, compliance, or driver support preferred.
• Strong HOS knowledge.
• Flatbed load securement procedures preferred.
• Knowledge of commercial transportation safety practices preferred.
• Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations is preferred.
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn company systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to analyze information and identify potential causes of safety-related events.
• Ability to work professionally with drivers and internal departments.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently while supporting a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Safety Investigations & Root Cause Analysis: Investigate safety events and determine root causes.
• Gather and review documentation, photos, inspection reports, and driver statements.
• Prepare clear investigation findings and escalate unresolved concerns.
• Driver Coaching & Corrective Action Support: assist coaching and retraining based on deficiencies.
• Monitor coaching effectiveness and escalate recurring issues.
• Driver Monitoring & ETA Management: track ETAs for coaching and safety activities.
• Safety Performance Monitoring: identify trends and risks from safety data.
• Communicate professionally with drivers and operations teams and provide timely updates.
