Job summary

Ahlstrom invites a Safety Intern to join our De Pere, Wisconsin plant for Summer 2027. You will support the Health, Safety and Environmental team with hands-on safety practices, hazard identification, audits, and employee engagement.

This internship provides exposure to real-world safety in a manufacturing setting, including incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement projects, while fostering a culture of safety across the facility.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an Occupational Health, Safety or related degree program.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Willing to relocate to De Pere, WI for June–August 2027.

Responsibilities

• Must follow Ahlstrom’s manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable, to the position’s areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper
• Assist with safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
• Support incident investigations and help identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Help maintain and update safety documentation.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects.
• Assist in the development of safety communications.

Pay Rate

• $27.00 per hour

Requirements

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
• Enrolled in an Occupational Health, Safety or related degree program
• Living in or willing to relocate to the De Pere, Wisconsin area from June - August 2027
• Strong technical aptitude and proven problem solving abilities
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization
