Job summary

Ahlstrom is seeking an Environmental Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 at the Stevens Point, Wisconsin plant. The role supports the EHS team with projects and daily tasks aimed at meeting environmental goals and building skills for a future full-time engineering position.

Pay rate includes $27.00 per hour. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and be enrolled in a related engineering degree program, with relocation to Stevens Point as needed for May–August 2027.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental or similar Engineering degree program.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Help restructure/organize Chemical Management in the Mill (Chemical Storage Areas, Mapping, Updating DMS Documents, Labeling).
• Perform Chemical Inventory, and update SARA Reporting for the Stevens Point Mill Facility in WHOPRS.
• Assist reviewing Daily Environmental Sewer Losses, fix corresponding data for each department.
• Lead upgrading environmental solids loss systems (adding sampler, working with outside vendor(s) to create PMs on turbidity meters and installing meters).
• Assist with records retention for environmental data and create organization for records onsite.
• Provide problem solving and analytical skills.
• Follow manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies to meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist and/or lead safety, productivity, quality, efficiency, cost control, compliance, and housekeeping projects.

Job description

Purpose: The goal of the Ahlstrom Stevens Point Mill's intern program is to cultivate the development of potential future engineering and leadership resources for our organization while providing high-quality process support to the mill’s operations group(s). Intern assignments are structured to provide candidates with opportunities to grow and develop in their chosen discipline as well as to educate them on various career paths within the organization. Although there is no guarantee of future employment, our goal is to have our interns fully capable of stepping into a full-time engineering position within our organization by the end of the program.

We are seeking an Environmental Engineer Intern at our Stevens Point, Wisconsin plant for Summer 2027. This position will assist the EHS team in the completion of projects and daily tasks critical to meeting Ahlstrom's environmental goals. Requirements

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
• Enrolled in a Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental or similar Engineering degree program
• Living in or willing to relocate to the Stevens Point, Wisconsin area from May - August 2027
• Strong technical aptitude and proven problem-solving abilities
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization
