Job summary

Ahlstrom in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, seeks a Safety Intern for Summer 2027 to support the Production Team in safety, quality, and process improvements.

You will assist and/or lead safety, productivity, quality, and cost-control projects while gaining hands-on experience in a paper machine environment.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States, be enrolled in an OHS, Paper Science, or related engineering program, and be available June–August 2027.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an OHS, Paper Science, or similar Engineering degree program.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Living in or willing to relocate to Rhinelander, WI for June–August 2027.
• Ability to work full-time during the internship.
• Strong technical aptitude and proven problem-solving abilities.
• Strong time management and highly self-motivated.
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Follow manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies to meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements for each paper grade.
• Assist and/or lead safety, productivity, quality, efficiency, cost control, compliance, and housekeeping projects.
• Support the safety manager in leading plant safety improvement efforts, including daily and long-term activities.
• Support operations/maintenance efforts and drive continuous improvement.

We are seeking a Safety Intern at our Rhinelander, Wisconsin plant for Summer 2027. This position will assist the Production Team in the achievement of safety, quality, production, cost, and product development objectives of a paper machine process line. Pay Rate

• $27.00 per hour
