Job summary

MGE is seeking a Safety Intern to support the Safety Department in developing and implementing safety programs, policies, and procedures. This internship offers hands-on experience in the utility and construction industries, with opportunities for meaningful, real-world impact.

Responsibilities include assisting in policy development, conducting safety observations and audits, investigating incidents to determine root causes, and contributing to training materials.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
• Preferred fields: Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health and Safety, or related disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in line with regulations.
• Conduct safety observations, audits of facilities, equipment, and work sites, identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist in incident investigations to determine root causes and preventive measures.
• Help develop training materials and participate in safety trainings.
• Maintain safety records and prepare reports; stay current with regulations and best practices.
• Communicate effectively and collaborate with team to achieve goals.
