Job summary

Mass. Electric Construction Co. seeks a Safety Specialist intern to help create, support, and audit safety programs on transportation projects. You will work with field teams to promote safety buy-in, assist with incident investigations, and help maintain OSHA/MSHA compliant records.

Assignment location will be determined closer to start date; this internship emphasizes hands-on safety practice and compliance across multiple project sites in the MEC Transportation District.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
• Certification as Safety Professional or EMT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, review, and communication of the Safety Plan to all stakeholders.
• Collaborate daily with craft to promote safety program buy-in and ownership.
• Ensure Stop Work Authority is exercised to enforce safety policies and plans.
• Plan and problem-solve with operations using leading indicator trends and upcoming work.
• Support staff to execute the Safety Plan and provide guidance as needed.
• Maintain project files in compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations and company policies.
