Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Safety Intern to gain hands-on exposure to the construction safety program while supporting the Safety Manager and project team on a live project.

The internship focuses on understanding the construction process, safety regulations, and effective program implementation, with opportunities to participate in safety audits, hazard analysis, and site orientation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a 4-year degree in Occupational Safety & Health (preferred).
• Strong communication skills.
• Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel based templates, Primavera, and AutoDesk Suite.

Responsibilities

• Gain knowledge of the company Safety & Health Program
• Learn applicable safety and health regulations as well as ways for effective company implementation
• Become familiar with the construction process
• Assist the Project Superintendent in the project site-specific safety orientation and other safety training
• Be visible in the field for safety observations
• Assist in the development and review of Activity Hazard Analysis
• Assist the project team in conducting project safety audits
• Assist the project team with accident and/or near miss investigations
• Attend awareness level safety courses and other construction related courses
• Perform periodic inspections such as fire extinguishers, ladders, first aid kits, etc.
