Job summary

Hudbay Health & Safety Manager will lead safety programs across the Cactus Project in Arizona, guiding policy and practice from site development through operations. You will align safety standards with company goals, manage training, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance, while building strong relationships with regulators and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety and Health Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline
• Minimum of ten (10) years of surface mine and plant safety experience
• Minimum of two (2) years in safety/health supervisory/management roles
• Strong knowledge of MSHA/OSHA and federal/state regs as applied to copper mining
• ISO 45001 or similar safety management systems knowledge
• MSHA Certified Instructor (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Provide direction to senior management to align health and safety policies with company objectives
• Track and report safety metrics, leading and lagging indicators
• Develop and implement proactive safety programs for construction, mining, processing, and office operations
• Ensure regulatory compliance (MSHA/OSHA, Federal, State) across all project phases
• Manage safety risk, incidents, investigations, and corrective actions
• Lead safety training programs and support incident investigations and root-cause analyses
• Oversee contractor safety management and ISN-system compliance
• Develop site Emergency Action Plans and crisis management procedures
• Foster a strong safety culture and ensure continuous improvement
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders to maintain compliance
