Job summary

Massachusetts Maritime Academy is seeking a Maintenance Leader to embed safety into maintenance planning and execution. You will partner with EHS teams to drive zero incidents and continuous improvement, overseeing both mechanical and E&I scopes.

You will manage a rolling 5-year maintenance strategy, budgets, and a CMMS-driven program while leading a team of maintenance personnel to improve reliability and cost efficiency across the site.

Qualifications

• Waste-to-Energy maintenance experience or strong background in related sectors.
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience required.
• Strong working knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems, NEC.
• Familiarity with NFPA Arc Flash safety requirements.
• Proficiency in work management processes: planning, scheduling, preventive maintenance.
• Demonstrated experience in planning and executing major maintenance outages.
• Understanding of Mechanical Integrity and QA programs.
• Experience with RCFA and FMEA.

Responsibilities

• Promote a strong culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence
• Ensure maintenance and reliability best practices are consistently followed across the site
• Provide leadership during events impacting site safety, health, and environmental performance
• Plan, develop, and implement maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods
• Lead the selection, assignment, coaching, development, and performance management of maintenance personnel
• Manage maintenance shops comprising mechanical and E&I crafts
• Forecast maintenance staffing needs and support hiring and workforce planning
• Develop and maintain a rolling 5-year site maintenance strategy
• Establish and maintain a maintenance metrics dashboard to drive performance
• Develop annual and monthly maintenance budgets and align with business objectives
• Build and sustain cost-management structure for short- and long-term reductions
• Lead the site Work Management Program (WMP) for cost-competitive planning
• Support and optimize CMMS and related tools
• Provide leadership for outage planning and execution within scope, schedule, and budget
• Drive reliability improvements via root cause analysis and preventive/predictive maintenance
• Inspect operating equipment for conformance with standards
• Collaborate with management, engineering, and quality to resolve issues and improve performance
