Job description

Job Title: Fleet Manager

The primary responsibility of the Safety/Fleet Manager is to lead all aspects of Sky City Trucking's compliance and safety department for all assets and drivers. This includes maintaining DOT and all local, state, and federal regulations in accordance with applicable laws, observing, coaching, and evaluating driver safety behaviors.

Responsibilities
  1. Monitor Driver Qualification procedures to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and company rules, including CDL, Physicals, MVR Reports, and License suspensions.
  2. Hire, train, and supervise all company drivers and owner-operators. Conduct new driver orientation and onboarding processes, including Keeptruckin ELD training, fuel card management, and DQ files.
  3. Communicate with drivers regarding corrective actions, updates on new guidelines, and preventative measures.
  4. Review and document safety roadside inspections, violations, and tickets. Maintain records of corrective actions and violations.
  5. Facilitate the assignment and transfer of all project fleet vehicles.
  6. Provide guidance on DOT-regulated, OSHA, FMCSA vehicle operations, including license and registration renewals, endorsement verification, federally mandated training, vehicle inspections, and record keeping.
  7. Maintain the Random Drug & Alcohol Program and Clearinghouse program.
  8. Request and review annual MVR, PSP, and Clearinghouse driver reports.
  9. Investigate fleet accidents and collaborate with insurance on claims.
  10. Oversee and manage annual insurance renewals.
  11. File quarterly IFTA, OR, NY, NM, KY tax miles reports. Handle registration and renewal of equipment, IFTA licenses, and permits.
  12. Create and improve safety policies and procedures in compliance with all applicable regulations.
  13. Assist management with various projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Practical knowledge of safety regulations with hands-on experience.
  • Knowledge of IFTA, FMCSA, Drug & Alcohol Regulations, and ELD HOS rules.
  • Strong analytical skills for data evaluation, improvement suggestions, and problem resolution.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks within deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting at all organizational levels.
  • Practical working knowledge of trucking safety fleet management is preferred.
