Job summary

Werner Enterprises in Omaha, Nebraska offers a paid 11-week summer internship focusing on safety analytics and process improvement. You will gain hands-on experience with our Corporate Safety Quality Assurance team, data review, and cross-functional projects.

Eligible students are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial engineering, supply chain, or related fields. Strong analytical and communication skills are required; housing assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Safety, Supply Chain Management, Data Analytics, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Introductory coursework in data analytics, project management, engineering, or process improvement is helpful.
• Curiosity about safety, transportation, and/or continuous improvement.
• Analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to ask questions.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Corporate Safety Quality Assurance team in evaluating safety processes and procedures.
• Review safety data, identify trends, and recommend ways to reduce risk and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on safety-related projects that impact drivers, associates, and operational staff.
• Help update policies, procedures, and safety resources to support federal requirements and company standards.
• Support process improvements, system enhancements, and training initiatives aimed at reducing risk and improving efficiency.
• Gain hands-on experience using safety management systems, Salesforce, Samsara Portal, Google Suite, and related tools.

Job description

Our summer internship program is an excellent opportunity to tie what you have learned in the classroom into real-world experience. The program consists of an 11-week immersion into Werner Enterprises.

Internship Overview:
