Job summary

Werner Enterprises is seeking a summer safety internship at our Corporate Headquarters in Omaha, NE, with some remote/off-site opportunities. This paid program offers dedicated training, hands-on experience, and access to safety projects impacting drivers and staff.

Interns will work with our Corporate Safety Quality Assurance team, review safety data, and help implement process improvements while gaining exposure to safety systems such as Salesforce, Samsara, and Google Suite.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial safety, data analytics or related field.
• Intro coursework in data analytics or process improvement is helpful.
• Prior transportation experience is not required; training is provided.
• Strong curiosity about safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Corporate Safety Quality Assurance team with safety process evaluation.
• Review safety data, identify trends, and recommend risk reduction actions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on safety projects affecting drivers and staff.
• Help update policies and safety resources to meet federal requirements.
• Support process improvements and training to reduce risk and improve efficiency.
• Gain hands-on experience using safety systems like Salesforce, Samsara, and Google Suite.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Corporate Safety Quality Assurance team in evaluating safety processes and procedures.
• Review safety data, identify trends, and recommend ways to reduce risk and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on safety-related projects that impact drivers, associates, and operational staff.
• Help update policies, procedures, and safety resources to support federal requirements and company standards.
• Support process improvements, system enhancements, and training initiatives aimed at reducing risk and improving efficiency.
• Gain hands‑on experience using safety management systems, Salesforce, Samsara Portal, Google Suite, and related tools.

Qualifications:

• Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Safety, Supply Chain Management, Data Analytics, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Introductory coursework in data analytics, project management, engineering, or process improvement is helpful. Prior transportation experience is not required; job training and guidance are provided.
• Curiosity about safety, transportation, and/or continuous improvement.
• Analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to ask questions.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• An ability to collaborate, adapt, and follow through on assigned work.
